How the public Connector Board ranks members

The public Connector Board at /connector-board/ shows who’s growing the community. This article explains exactly how the rankings work.

What it ranks by

The board ranks members by total invitees signed up — not by VIP conversions, not by commission earned. If Beth invited 47 people and 8 upgraded to VIP, her count is 47.

This is intentional. The Connector Board is about social recognition for community growth, not about money. Money lives privately on each member’s Earnings tab and on the admin payout queue.

Why “signups” not “VIP conversions”

Two reasons:

  1. It rewards the right behavior. Inviting people who’d genuinely benefit is the goal, regardless of which tier they end up on.
  2. It keeps the board public-friendly. Members would rightly object to having their commission earnings displayed on a public board. Signup count is a friendly social metric, like “posts published” or “songs released”.

Time period filtering

The board has three tabs:

  • All-time: every signup since the program began
  • This year: signups in the last 12 months
  • This month: signups in the last 30 days

Switching tabs changes the URL (?cb_period=year) and re-renders the rankings filtered to that window.

What appears on the board

  • Top 3: visual podium with photo, name, title, count. The #1 spot has a gold crown above.
  • Full ranking: every connector with their rank, photo, name, title, count, and trend chip showing recent gains
  • Stats row: total connectors, total connections, this month’s count

How often does the board update?

Rankings cache for 5 minutes for performance. So a new signup may take a few minutes to appear. Real-time isn’t necessary for a leaderboard surface.

Can I appear on the board?

Yes — automatically. Once you have at least 1 invitee, you appear in the full ranking. Your position depends on how many you have versus other connectors. You can’t opt out (it’s a public recognition surface, not a privacy concern since only your name + title + photo are shown).

What if my photo isn’t loading on the board?

The board uses your profile photo from the Profile tab. If you’ve uploaded one and it’s not showing, see the troubleshooting article “Photo upload issues” in the Profile category. The board pulls the same photo source as everywhere else.
