How your profile appears in search and on the homepage

Beyond the direct URL, your profile gets surfaced in several places across The Smile Channel. This article covers each.

Leaders directory

The main browse page at thesmilechannel.com/leaders/. Lists all members with filters for category, location, and verification status. Profiles appear in roughly: VIP first, then Pro, then Starter, then Free, with completeness as a tiebreaker.

Visitors can search by name, profession, or topic. The search index includes your name, title, bio, and the titles of your books and episodes. Update those fields and your search results improve.

Homepage spotlight (VIP only)

The Smile Channel homepage rotates featured VIP members in a Spotlight section. Inclusion is automatic for VIPs and rotates on a schedule managed by the team.

Category pages

If your profile is tagged with categories (Author, Speaker, Coach, etc.), you appear on those category landing pages. Tag relevance is a stronger signal than tier — a Free tier member with a clearly tagged profile can outrank a VIP without category tags on a topic page.

Search engines (Google, Bing)

Profiles are indexed by Google. When someone searches your name, your Smile Channel profile typically appears within the first page of results once the page has been crawled (usually 1-2 weeks after first publish). The more complete your profile, the higher it ranks.

How to improve discoverability

Three things move the needle: complete your profile (bio, photo, location, books, episodes), use clear category tags, and link to your profile from your own website / social bios. The platform handles the rest.

The team’s newsletter occasionally features VIP members in interview spotlights and recommended-reads sections. We reach out before featuring — you can decline if the timing isn’t right.
