VIP members can map a custom domain (like kenrochon.com) to their profile. Visitors typing your domain go directly to your Smile Channel profile. This article walks through the DNS setup.
What you’ll need
- A domain you own (registered through GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.)
- Access to your domain’s DNS settings
- A VIP membership
- About 15-30 minutes
Step 1: Tell us your domain
- Dashboard → Settings → Custom Domain
- Enter your full domain (e.g.
yourname.com) - Click “Set up domain”
The system gives you the DNS records you’ll need to add at your registrar.
Step 2: Add the DNS records
Log into your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.). Find the DNS Management or DNS Records section. You’ll add these two records:
| Type | Host | Value |
|---|---|---|
| A | @ | (IP address shown in your dashboard) |
| CNAME | www | thesmilechannel.com |
Save the records. DNS propagation usually takes 1-4 hours but can take up to 48.
You’re changing DNS records, NOT nameservers. If you change nameservers, your email and other services will break. Stick to the DNS Records / DNS Management section.
Step 3: Verify
Once DNS has propagated, return to Dashboard → Settings → Custom Domain. Click “Verify”. The system checks the records and turns on SSL automatically. Within minutes your domain is live and serving your profile.
Common issues
- Domain still showing old site — DNS hasn’t propagated yet, give it more time
- SSL not working — usually fixes itself within 24 hours; if longer, contact support
- www works but apex doesn’t (or vice versa) — one of the two records didn’t save correctly; double-check
- “Domain already in use” — someone else mapped it; contact support to investigate
How to remove the custom domain later
Settings → Custom Domain → “Disconnect domain”. Then remove the DNS records at your registrar. The profile reverts to thesmilechannel.com/leaders/your-slug/.
