Mobile vs desktop — what works where

The Smile Channel works on phones, tablets, and computers. Some things work better on desktop, some on mobile. This article gives the practical breakdown.

Works fully on mobile

  • Reading profiles, articles, episodes
  • Submitting book reviews
  • Navigating the affiliate dashboard
  • Sharing your invite link (especially via WhatsApp, the QR code, or messages)
  • Reading the Help Center
  • Logging in / out
  • Watching event replays

Works on mobile but better on desktop

  • Profile editing — long bio writing is much faster on a real keyboard
  • Adding multiple books or episodes — bulk entry is tedious on mobile
  • One Sheet customization — color pickers and layout previews need screen real estate
  • Manager dashboard (admin only) — designed for desktop primarily

Desktop only

  • Custom domain DNS setup (you’d be doing this at your registrar’s site, which is desktop-friendly)
  • Stage Portal for events (works on mobile but tech checks need a real computer)

Native app?

The Smile Channel doesn’t have a native iOS / Android app — it’s a responsive web app that adapts to your device size. The mobile experience is good but not identical to a native app. A native app may come in the future depending on member demand.

Bookmarking on mobile

Bookmark thesmilechannel.com/guest-dashboard/ for one-tap access. On iOS, you can also “Add to Home Screen” to get an app-like icon.

Mobile screenshots in support tickets

If you’re reporting a mobile bug, please include:

  • Phone model and OS version
  • Browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.)
  • Screenshot of the issue
  • Whether it happens in incognito mode too

This dramatically speeds up triage.
