The Smile Channel sends a few different types of email. This article covers each and how to control which ones you receive.
Email types
| Type | What it includes | Can opt out? |
|---|---|---|
| Account essentials | Password resets, billing receipts, security alerts | No (required) |
| Newsletter | Monthly platform updates, member spotlights | Yes |
| Activity notifications | New review on your book, your commission paid, etc. | Granular control |
| Event invitations | Upcoming events you might want to attend | Yes |
| Tips & education | How to get the most out of the platform | Yes |
Where to manage
Dashboard → Settings → Email Preferences. Each non-essential category has its own toggle.
Granular activity notifications
You can fine-tune which activities trigger an email:
- Review submitted on your book
- New invitee signup through your link
- Commission state change (Pending → Eligible, Eligible → Paid)
- Event you spoke at had its replay published
- Other members tagged you somewhere
If you don’t want individual emails for each activity, switch to the “Daily digest” mode. Notifications get bundled into a single end-of-day email instead of trickling in throughout the day.
Unsubscribe links
Every non-essential email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking unsubscribes you from that specific category. You can re-enable later through the dashboard.
What you can never unsubscribe from
Account essentials — password resets, billing receipts, account security alerts, refund confirmations. These are required for your account to function safely. Even if you click “unsubscribe from all”, these still go through.
