Upgrading from Starter → Pro vs Pro → VIP — what changes

The two biggest upgrade decisions are Starter → Pro and Pro → VIP. They’re different in character. This article breaks down what each one is actually about.

Starter → Pro: The functionality jump

The biggest functional upgrade on the platform. What you unlock:

Auto-generated Speaker One-Sheet PDF

The headline feature. Pro auto-generates a polished one-page PDF you can send to event organizers, podcast hosts, and journalists. Includes your bio, books, speaking topics, and contact info — all pulled from your profile data automatically.

Most Pro upgraders cite the One-Sheet as the single reason. “I needed a better way to pitch myself to events.”

Unlimited books with auto-fetched covers

Starter caps at 1 book. Pro removes the cap entirely. Paste any Amazon link and the system auto-fetches the cover and metadata. If you have a backlist of 5+ books, this matters.

Long-form bio

Pro removes the bio character limit. Tell your full story instead of compressing into a paragraph.

Video embeds

YouTube and Vimeo embeds appear directly on your profile. Talks, podcast appearances, book trailers — visitors can watch without leaving your page.

Booking buttons

Calendly, your own scheduler, or any custom booking link — displayed as prominent CTAs on your profile. “Available for events” badge appears alongside.

Share Profile button

One-click share for distributing your profile link via email, social, or QR.

Pro is the operational tier

If your work involves pitching yourself to anyone — events, podcasts, media, clients — Pro pays for itself the first time someone books through your One-Sheet or booking button.

Pro → VIP: The positioning jump

A different kind of upgrade. Pro is about features; VIP is about positioning and PR.

Visual signals that you’re a top-tier member. Gold replaces blue verified; the ★ Featured badge appears next to your name in the guest grid.

Priority placement in the guest grid

VIPs surface first in directory listings and search results. More eyeballs on your profile from the platform’s organic traffic.

Intro video card on profile

A prominent video card at the top of your profile — first thing visitors see.

Custom domain

Map your own domain (yourname.com) to your profile. Cleaner for business cards and bios. Members typing your URL land directly on your Smile Channel profile.

PR placement in the Smile Book on Amazon

Inclusion in the printed Smile Book series — physical PR that few platforms can offer.

Spotlight on the Smile Channel website

Periodic featuring on the homepage spotlight rotation — significantly more eyeballs.

4 sponsored social posts every month

Promotional posts on The Smile Channel’s social channels — useful when launching a book, program, or speaking tour.

Priority pick of 9-minute speaking slot at virtual events

VIP members get first pick of the prime 9-minute speaking slot at quarterly events. One good speaking slot can lead to bookings, partnerships, and audience growth that significantly exceeds annual VIP cost.

How to decide

  • Pro if you actively pitch yourself for events, podcasts, or media — the operational features make daily work easier
  • VIP if The Smile Channel is meant to be a primary visibility channel — the PR perks compound over time

If you’re unsure, start at Pro and upgrade to VIP later if you want the PR amplification.
