About
Meridith Taylor Strout is a children’s author, educator, and early literacy advocate passionate about creating engaging, multisensory learning experiences that foster inclusion, kindness, and positive classroom communities. With a PhD from the University of Florida focused on the remediation and prevention of reading and language disabilities, Meridith has dedicated her career to supporting children, families, and educators through literacy-focused instruction and meaningful educational experiences.
Her background includes teaching in elementary classrooms, serving as an adjunct professor in early literacy, working as an educational diagnostician, and providing educational consulting and tutoring services. Drawing from her experience in education and her passion for social-emotional learning, Meridith combines literacy, music, and interactive learning strategies to make reading accessible, engaging, and memorable for young learners.
Meridith is the author of The More the Merrier, an interactive children’s book designed to teach inclusion and kindness through music and participation. The book incorporates embedded percussion instruments and multisensory elements that encourage children to actively engage during read-aloud experiences while building early literacy skills and classroom connection. Her work is especially valued by educators, parents, therapists, and librarians seeking creative ways to support literacy development and positive social interaction.
In addition to writing, Meridith speaks at schools, literacy events, and community programs, sharing her passion for reading, inclusion, and the power of creating welcoming environments where every child feels valued. She is currently developing additional books and educational resources that continue her mission of blending literacy, music, and social-emotional learning to support children both inside and outside the classroom.
